Veterinary Farm Calls
Columbia Equine Hospital has five full-time ambulatory veterinarians who travel with equipped trucks to provide full-service care for your horses on the farm. From our mobile equine units, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of services, including diagnostics, exams, prevention, dentistry and surgical services.
We see horses from a variety of disciplines some of which include performance show horses, race horses, endurance horses, gaited horses, trail horses, breeding horses, retired horses, and service horses.
We are also available for 24-hour emergency care within our practice area in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington. Contact us immediately if your horse needs emergency care.
Our field services include the following:
What to Know When Scheduling Farm Services
We can perform digital radiographs (X-Ray), digital ultrasounds, and endoscopic examinations on the farm. In addition, we provide advanced treatments on the farm, such as shock wave therapy. The veterinarian will need a covered work area that has a direct power supply.
For a lameness or pre-purchase examination, our veterinarians require an arena with soft footing and a safe area that has hard footing to assess the horse for soundness. We ask our clients to be prepared to ride during the evaluation if requested by the doctor.
All of our dental procedures require a covered area, warm water, and electrical power. These are essential for veterinarians to perform a dental float on your horse.
